2.5.11 A Lazy Summer Day at Halibut Point
Today is a good day to remind ourselves of warmer times to follow.
These are the rocks of summer from which to watch the sunset back over Essex and inland
1.22.11 Babson’s Sunset Rock
It was 10 years ago that I began visiting Halibut Point State Park with a camera. There was almost no snow that year, but winter defined the primary season I enjoy at the park. (Although the summer sunsets are unique.) This is the park once called ‘Babson’s Sunset Rock, in the early 1800s, as people would pack up a dinner meal and walk down to sit (now the middle of the quarry!) to watch the sun go down. The more things change….
This image is from yesterday as the snow was ending, before the sun came out for pretty.
1.12.11 The Blizzard at Halibut Point
I’m waiting a bit and getting ready to cross-country ski over to Halibut Point State Park, to catch the end of the blizzard this afternoon. This image of the maple is from 2006. One of my favorite corners at the quarry.
