When I got home this afternoon I remembered that Paul Fuhs, whose grandfather and father owned several of the shacks at Lanes Cove, told me his grandfather rented dories to summer residents at Lanes Cove. Paul as a child used to have to go fetch them back to the cove when the tourists ran out of oar power and beached them. Paul is a Japan occupation veteran so would be maybe ten years older than I, about 83, and his description would fit the mid 1930s. Perhaps that is why we see all the dories at the wall.
